Coffee - that is music to my ears. For me, drinking coffee means taking a break, enjoying and often listening to relaxing music, consciously or unconsciously in the background in a Café.

A connection of the senses I wanted to include in my design: The sense of taste and smell with the full-bodied coffee, the sense of sight and touch with the design and shape of the cup, the sense of hearing with the connection to music and the sound of the coffee machine.

To bring a personal touch to the whole thing, I worked with my own violin playing. Through a construction with body sound transducers (working similar to loudspeakers) and an electric violin I was able to make sound waves visible in water. With marbling paint I captured the changing patterns in a static image - the basis of my design was created.

You should enjoy your coffee, take your time and listen to music in peace. The marbling created with music is reminiscent of the image on the surface of a cup of freshly brewed coffee. While enjoying a cup of coffee, you can now interpret your own images and associations into the curved shapes. The cup convinces with a simple and appealing design, which invites not only music lovers to a delicious coffee.
