Meticulous Blending

Being a winegrower, I have witnessed the confirmation of an old rule observed by our family: blending the best with the best doesn’t automatically mean that you’ll get something better – in actual fact you often achieve exactly the opposite. We’ve been living with this problem for 88 years and know just how much skill is required to reformulate the Amici blend, sometimes several times a day, starting from the at least nine origins that we use. This is why we, the Illy family ourselves, have been personally tasting and selecting our coffees, together with our specialists, since 1933. The samples are usually tasted at 2 p.m., every day.
